Helma Leenhouts


Studied the violin at the conservatory of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. She received her Master diploma Musician Performer after being teached by Ilya Grubert, the famous violin pedagogue. After that she continued her studies in Boston with the well known pedagogue Zanaïda Gilels.

Great influence on her violin playing came from the lessons of Berl Senowski, Daniel Philips and Pavel Vernikov.
The repertoire of Chamber Music and mainly the repertoire violin and piano together with Jan Hoijtink has remained the most important part of her playing. Besides that she plays the violin in the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra , The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, New Sinfonietta Amsterdam , the Radio Chamber Philharmonic , the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

She is very experienced and able to teach on various levels, however mainly in playing music in ensembles.
